Eagles-Commanders Injury Report: Who Is Out for Week 1?

The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 1. While the Eagles managed to stay relatively healthy throughout this summer, the same can’t be said for the Commanders. Washington has already placed four players on injured reserve, including three key starters in left tackle Laremy Tunsil, interior defensive lineman Jer’Zhan Newton and cornerback Trey Amos.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia has placed two players on injured reserve in wide receiver Johnny Wilson and safety Andre’ Sam, who are both backups. There is a chance that the Eagles could be without Pro Bowl edge rusher Jonathan Greenard in Week 1. The 29-year-old veteran is dealing with a pec injury that forced him to miss a ton of time this summer.

Here’s the updated injury report for both the Eagles and the Commanders ahead of Sunday’s matchup.

Eagles Injury Report

Wednesday, September 9, 2026

  • Eagles EDGE Jonathan Greenard returned to the practice field after missing all of training camp due to a pectoral injury. Greenard was spotted in pads by reporters at practice and officially listed as a limited participant.

  • Eagles rookie TE Eli Stowers suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of training camp but was back on the practice field on Wednesday. Stowers was officially listed as a limited participant.

  • Eagles rookie OT Markel Bell was dealing with both a thumb injury and a leg injury late last month. Yet Bell returned to practice on Wednesday and was spotted working with the team’s field goal unit by EJ Smith of PHLY Sports. He wasn’t listed on Philadelphia’s injury report.

Commanders Injury Report

Wednesday, September 9, 2026

  • Commanders OLB K’Lavon Chaisson returned to practice for the first time in several weeks earlier this month. Chaisson was one of Washington’s big additions to their pass rush this offseason. It seems like he’s trending towards playing in Week 1.

  • Commanders second-year RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt was limited during Wednesday’s practice due to a groin injury. He’ll likely split reps with new Commanders RB Rachaad White and it seems like Croskey-Merritt will play in Week 1.

  • Commanders EDGE Odafe Oweh returned to practice this week after missing time this summer due to a calf injury. Oweh’s status remains unclear as he is returning a bit later than Chaisson did. Oweh signed a massive four-year, $96 million deal with the Commanders in free agency.

  • Commanders projected starting center Nick Allegretti practiced in full on Wednesday as he works his way back from a calf injury. Washington’s offensive line is banged up so they could use all of the help that they can get.

  • In addition to Allegretti, Jordan Magee, Marcus Mariota, Charles Omenihu and Ben Sinnott were also full participants during Wednesday’s practice.
