5 Trade Ideas for the Eagles To Consider
The Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for the third week of training camp and the team’s first preseason game of 2026. Meanwhile, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is likely working the phones as August is seemingly one of his busiest months of the entire year. Over the last five years, Roseman has made 13 deals in August.
While the Eagles have already solidified nearly every starting spot, that won’t prevent Roseman from making moves along the margins. Philadelphia’s roster could use upgrades to the team’s depth along the interior offensive line, tight end, interior defensive line and safety. Here are five trade ideas for the Eagles to consider this month.
In-Division Deal
Eagles receive: TE Ben Sinnott, 2027 sixth-round pick
Commanders receive: OT Fred Johnson, 2027 fifth-round pick
Washington Commanders Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil reportedly tore his triceps and will require surgery. Now Washington could look for help at offensive tackle on the trade market. Meanwhile, Eagles rookie offensive tackle Markel Bell has already jumped over veteran swing tackle Fred Johnson on Philadelphia’s depth chart.
Therefore, I could see the Eagles shopping Johnson to any teams in need of offensive tackle help. The Eagles could use long-term depth at tight end, which the Commanders have plenty of. While the Eagles might ask for veteran blocking tight end John Bates, Washington may be more willing to part with Ben Sinnott. The third-year tight end would join Eli Stowers to give Philadelphia a young, promising duo that is under contract for the next two seasons.
Familiar Face for Clint Hurtt
Eagles receive: IDL L.J. Collier
Cardinals receive: CB Jakorian Bennett
Clint Hurtt has become a key part of Philadelphia’s coaching staff, as he now has three titles: Defensive line coach, senior defensive assistant and associate head coach. Hurtt has been able to maximize most of Philadelphia’s defensive line talent, yet the Eagles can’t be happy with the depth along the interior of the defensive line in 2026. Therefore, Roseman could make a move to add depth upfront.
The Arizona Cardinals have a wealth of depth along the interior of the defensive line and L.J. Collier played under Hurtt for four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. At 30-years old, Collier would provide the Eagles with experienced depth behind their young, promising trio of Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo. Meanwhile, Eagles cornerback Jakorian Bennett would get a much-needed fresh start in Arizona.
2025 NFL Draft Redo
Eagles receive: S Jaylen Reed
Texans receive: LB Smael Mondon Jr.
Philadelphia selected Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. with the 161st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Eagles continued to invest in depth at inside linebacker and viewed Mondon as another piece to that puzzle. Yet fast forward to this year and Mondon is now likely behind Chance Campbell on Philadelphia’s depth chart and might be waived.
Meanwhile, the Houston Texans selected Penn State safety Jaylen Reed with the 187th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Fast forward to today and Houston has plenty of depth at safety, while they’re in need of help at inside linebacker. Therefore, this trade that is essentially a redo of the 2025 NFL Draft would be a win-win scenario for both teams.
Reupholstering the Interior
Eagles receive: iOL Jackson Powers-Johnson, 2027 sixth-round pick
Raiders receive: WR Johnny Wilson, 2027 fourth-round pick
Both Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens underwent stem cell treatment this offseason as they look to stay healthy, unlike in 2025. Eagles starting right guard Tyler Steen is also heading into a contract year. While Drew Kendall has shown promise as a backup interior offensive lineman, Philadelphia could use another long-term addition in that area.
Las Vegas Raiders interior offensive lineman Jackson Powers-Johnson has had an inconsistent start to his NFL career and could use a change of scenery. He has the versatility to play both guard and center, which the Eagles could find enticing. Meanwhile, the Raiders could use help at wide receiver and Johnny Wilson may be at risk of being waived given Philadelphia’s newfound depth at the position.
Second Chance Swap
Eagles receive: TE Cade Stover
Texans receive: IDL Ty Robinson
The Texans have depth at several positions that the Eagles could find enticing. Houston could also use some developmental depth along the interior of the defensive line. Eagles second-year interior defensive lineman Ty Robinson has had a quiet start to his NFL career in Philadelphia and could benefit from a change of scenery. While Robinson has reportedly recently shown flashes, he needs to keep it up.
If Robinson remains quiet during the preseason, he could be sent to Houston in a deal that would land Texans third-year tight end Cade Stover in Philadelphia. The Texans have added multiple tight ends this offseason, including Foster Moreau and Marlin Klein. With Stover now battling for the TE4 role in Houston, it might make sense for him to get a fresh start in Philadelphia.
