Eagles-Vikings Game Preview: Who Will Win in Week 7?

After losing two consecutive games, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to bounce back on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles were embarrassed by the New York Giants last week and are facing a near must win situation in Week 7.

Philadelphia should get multiple key starters back on the field following their mini-bye week. While the Eagles are favorites on the road, they’ll face a tough test in Minnesota.

The Vikings are coming off their bye week after playing back-to-back international games. Minnesota will surely be happy to be back home and several Vikings players will be motivated against their former team on Sunday.

Here’s my full game preview for an NFC matchup that’s loaded with intriguing storylines in Week 7.

Three Storylines To Follow

Can Jalen Hurts and Kevin Patullo Outsmart Brian Flores?

It’s no secret that Philadelphia’s offense has struggled through the first six weeks of the regular season. The offense is stale, predictable and inconsistent. Yet the Eagles had an extended break after playing on Thursday night and could look different in Week 7.

Yet Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is one of the best minds in the NFL and will certainly keep the Eagles on their toes. Some of Flores’ biggest strengths are his ability to utilize the blitz, simulated pressures and zone coverage.

Philadelphia’s offense has struggled against all three of those looks this season. If Jalen Hurts and Kevin Patullo are going to right the ship in Week 7, they’re going to have to prove that they can overcome their biggest obstacles.

Philadelphia’s Pass Rush Should Bounce Back in Minnesota

Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was able to dominate the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX because Philadelphia’s pass rush was winning with just four players. That hasn’t been the case in 2025, as Fangio has been forced to blitz to generate a pass rush.

Luckily for Fangio and the Eagles, Minnesota has allowed three or more sacks in all five of their games this season. The Eagles have yet to record more than two sacks in any game this season.

If Jalen Carter returns against the Vikings, we could finally see Philadelphia’s pass rush bounce back this season. Minnesota’s offensive line is banged up and Carson Wentz tends to hold the ball too long. The Eagles could (and should) record a season-high in sacks in Week 7.

Former Eagles Players Seeking Revenge in Week 7

Minnesota is now home to several former Eagles players including Wentz, Isaiah Rodgers, Javon Hargrave and Eric Wilson. All four have started games for the Vikings this season and could play a role against their former team on Sunday.

Rodgers will be the player to watch the most in Week 7, especially given Philadelphia’s issues at cornerback across from Quinyon Mitchell. The 27-year-old cornerback stepped up for the Eagles several times during Philadelphia’s Super Bowl run and unfortunately departed in free agency.

While Rodgers stated that he doesn’t believe it’s a revenge game, Eagles fans will certainly be focused on him in Week 7. Rodgers has allowed just 96 receiving yards this season, according to Pro Football Focus. If he has a big day against the Eagles on Sunday, it’ll only increase the panic level in Philadelphia.

Two Underrated Players To Watch For

Adoree’ Jackson

Following Rodgers’ departure, the Eagles signed veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson to fill his former role. While Jackson has certainly tackled poorly at times, I believe that he has performed better in coverage than he’s given credit for by Philadelphia’s fans.

After Kelee Ringo fell flat on his face in Week 6, Jackson should start at cornerback for the foreseeable future. Yet he will draw a tough matchup on Sunday, as he’ll likely be forced to defend either Justin Jefferson or Jordan Addison in Minnesota.

Jackson will be tested by the Vikings and can’t afford to make any mistakes. If Jackson can hold his own against one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL, it will give the Eagles some peace of mind ahead of the trade deadline.

Jonathan Greenard

Philadelphia’s offensive line hasn’t been the stout unit that we’ve become accustomed to seeing each season in 2025. The Eagles have struggled to consistently generate a push in the running game or protect Jalen Hurts in the passing game.

Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard has quietly become one of the more complete edge defenders in the NFL. While Greenard was finally named to the Pro Bowl in 2024, he is still underrated by many around the league.

Greenard has already generated 24 total pressures, which is tied for second-most among players that have played five games. If Philadelphia’s offense didn’t make the necessary changes during the mini-bye week, Greenard could have a big day in Week 7.

One Key Matchup To Monitor

Quinyon Mitchell vs. Justin Jefferson

After leaving last week’s loss against the Giants with a hamstring injury, Quinyon Mitchell appears ready to return in Week 7. Yet he’ll likely draw one of the toughest matchups in the NFL in Vikings All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

Mitchell has shadowed opposing top wide receivers earlier this season and it’ll be interesting to see if Fangio has him follow Jefferson on Sunday. Jefferson has played 76.8% of his snaps outside, which would allow Mitchell to shadow him for a large majority of the game.

It’s worth noting that Mitchell has struggled at times this season. He allowed six receptions on nine targets for 81 yards against the Broncos in Week 5. Mitchell will certainly be looking to make a bounce back, statement performance against Jefferson on Sunday.

Final Score Predictions

Josh’s Pick: Eagles 24, Vikings 20

The NFL has been nuts up to this point in the season. Every time you think you have a team figured out, they do something unpredictable. Which is exactly what the Eagles need to muster this week against Brian Flores’ Minnesota Vikings defense. To their credit, Philadelphia’s optimistic coming off the mini-bye in their changes and new attitude going forward. So I’ll roll with them one more week. But if it’s another uninspired, predictable loss like in Week 6, it’s time to make some serious changes.

Anthony’s Pick: Vikings 27, Eagles 24

The Eagles enter Minnesota as road favorites against the Vikings in Week 7. Yet after back-to-back losses, it’s hard for me to trust this team right now. Philadelphia’s offense will likely start hot before faltering in the second half following halftime adjustments. The Vikings will nail a late-game field goal to escape with a narrow victory over the Eagles.
