Eagles-Giants Game Preview: Who Will Win in Week 6?
The Philadelphia Eagles suffered their first loss of the regular season and it’s no longer sunny in the City of Brotherly Love. Yet the Eagles could repair the vibes in Philadelphia with a statement win against the New York Giants in a divisional matchup in Week 6.
While the Giants are 1-4 and coming off handing the New Orleans Saints their first victory of the regular season, the Eagles shouldn’t take this game lightly. New York has young and intriguing talent that could give Philadelphia trouble.
Here’s my full game preview for the divisional matchup between the Eagles and Giants in Week 6.
Three Storylines To Follow
How Will Kevin Patullo Respond on the Big Stage?
The hot seat certainly isn’t getting any cooler for Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Through the first five weeks of the regular season, Philadelphia’s offense is an inconsistent mess that ranks near the bottom of the NFL in several major categories.
Following a disappointing loss to the Denver Broncos last week, Patullo has rightfully faced a ton of backlash. The offensive issues seemed to force a players only meeting between team captains Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown earlier this week.
Now it’s time for Patullo to respond under the bright lights on Thursday night and right the ship against the Giants. While New York has a ton of intriguing talent, especially along their defensive front, there are still matchups for the Eagles to take advantage of.
The Giants have allowed the seventh-most rushing yards per game (140.0) in the NFL this season. This feels like the perfect “get right” game for Philadelphia’s struggling rushing attack, especially against Saquon Barkley’s former team.
Patullo’s offense has shown flashes at times through the first five weeks of the regular season, yet it simply hasn’t been enough. If Patullo wants to earn the trust of the locker room and the City of Brotherly Love, he’ll need to put on a show at MetLife Stadium in Week 6.
Can Philadelphia Handle New York’s Pass Rush?
One of the biggest reasons for Philadelphia’s slow start offensively has been the offensive line. While the Eagles’ offensive line is normally one of the best units in the NFL, that simply hasn’t been the case in 2025.
Philadelphia’s offensive line has already allowed 51 total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. Landon Dickerson, who has battled multiple injuries and will be out against the Giants, has allowed 13 total pressures.
Now the Eagles will be tasked with trying to slow down one of the best edge rusher rotations in the NFL. New York’s trio of Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeux and Abdul Carter has already recorded 61 total pressures by themselves in just five games.
Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen has done a good job of utilizing all three players on the field at the same time as well. Burns, Thibodeux and Carter have moved all around New York’s defensive front and will certainly test the communication between Jalen Hurts and his offensive line in Week 6.
Old School vs. New School
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio represents everything “old school” about the sport. He’s 67-years old, started coaching in the NFL in 1986 and is a straight shooter during his press conferences.
Meanwhile, Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart represents everything “new school” about the sport. He’s 22-years old, plays with a gaudy diamond chain around his neck and he isn’t afraid to dance when he reaches the end zone.
Yet the old school and new school will battle it out in a divisional matchup on Thursday night. It’s worth noting that Fangio has had plenty of success against rookie quarterbacks in recent years. Over the last 15 years, Fangio’s teams are 18-8 against rookie quarterbacks.
Now Dart and the Giants will present a unique challenge for Fangio, as New York’s franchise quarterback is joined by several other young, intriguing playmakers. Giants running back Cam Skattebo and tight end Theo Johnson certainly bring the juice and could make things interesting against the Eagles on Thursday night.
Two Underrated Players To Watch For
Kylen Granson
Eagles tight end Grant Calcaterra has officially been ruled out for Week 6 due to an oblique injury. Prior to the injury, Calcaterra underwhelmed in year four in Philadelphia as he continues to struggle as a blocker. Yet now the door is open for Kylen Granson to emerge.
Granson provides significantly more alignment versatility than Calcaterra, while also being a better blocker (which isn’t saying much). The Eagles had some success when Granson replaced Calcaterra last week and could look to build on that against the Giants.
While it would be nice to see the Eagles use more 11 personnel, it seems like Philadelphia still wants to utilize 12 personnel. If that’s the case in Week 6, Granson could surprise a few people in his new role as Philadelphia’s second tight end.
Darius Alexander
Many Eagles fans had their eyes on former Toledo interior defensive lineman Darius Alexander ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Yet Quinyon Mitchell’s former college teammate slipped to the third round and the Giants pounced at the opportunity to select him.
Now Alexander is growing into his role alongside All-Pro interior defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence II in New York. The 25-year-old rookie has seen an uptick in playing time with each passing week and could have a major impact against the Eagles on Thursday night.
Philadelphia’s interior offensive line has struggled through the first five weeks of the regular season. Alexander recorded two total pressures against the Saints last week and could build on that performance in Week 6.
One Key Matchup To Monitor
Jalen Hurts vs. Abdul Carter
The chess match between Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Giants edge rusher Abdul Carter is going to be fun to watch on Thursday night. It’s no secret that Hurts isn’t playing at the level that many expected him to play at in 2025, especially after winning Super Bowl MVP.
Now Carter, a former Eagles fan, will have his first chance to play against his favorite childhood team. Carter already leads the Giants with 22 total pressures this season and will certainly be looking to heat up Hurts in Week 6.
While Philadelphia’s offensive line has given up an uncharacteristic amount of pressures this season, Hurts is also responsible for quite a bit of those issues. According to Football Insights, Hurts is responsible for 20% of the pressures that he has faced in 2025.
Hurts has struggled against zone coverages and the simulated pressures that opposing defenses have thrown at him. Given how the Giants have utilized Carter in a variety of pre-snap alignments, he could give Philadelphia’s offense trouble if Hurts isn’t aware of where he is on Thursday night.

Final Score Predictions
Josh’s Pick: Eagles 28, Giants 17
Last week felt like the perfect opportunity for the Eagles to find their offense, but once again, it didn’t happen. If there was ever a time for a “get right” game this is it. Short week. Against the Giants. And needing to get Saquon Barkley going. I think it finally happens and we’ll be able to temporarily breathe a sigh of relief.
Anthony’s Pick: Eagles 24, Giants 17
The Eagles have dominated the Giants in recent years and Philadelphia’s fanbase certainly hopes that trend will continue in Week 6. Yet I’m a fan of New York’s rookie class and think the Giants will put up a tougher fight than many expect on Thursday night. The Eagles should still win but it could bring back memories of Philadelphia’s matchup with the Carolina Panthers from last season.
