Eagles-Commanders Week 16 Injury Report: Who Is Playing in Washington?
The Philadelphia Eagles finally snapped their three-game losing streak and will have to turn things around quickly this week. Philadelphia could be without several key starters as they’ll visit the Washington Commanders on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Commanders recently announced that starting quarterback Jayden Daniels will be shut down for the remainder of the season. Washington is going with former Eagles quarterback Marcus Mariota down the final stretch, who has started seven games in 2025.
Here is the updated injury report for both the Eagles and the Commanders ahead of Saturday’s matchup.
Eagles Injury Report
Tuesday, December 16th
Due to the quick turnaround after Week 15, the Eagles held a walkthrough on Tuesday and each player’s participation level was estimated.
Jalen Carter and Lane Johnson were estimated as did not participate for Tuesday’s walkthrough. Not much of a surprise as Carter’s timeline is uncertain and Johnson is expected to return by no later than Week 17. Although if the Eagles clinch the NFC East, they could rest him until the playoffs.
Saquon Barkley is the most notable name among the other players estimated as did not participate. While Barkley left the game at one point, his final two runs went for 17 yards and 11 yards late in the third quarter. Then he was also on the field for Jalen Hurts’ touchdown pass to A.J. Brown to start the fourth quarter. My guess is that Barkley will be just fine.
Wednesday, December 17th
Jalen Carter, Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson and Fred Johnson were listed as did not participate on Wednesday. Yet it’s worth noting that Dickerson had rest added to the reason for his absence. Meanwhile, “Big Fred” told Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer that he expects to be available to play in Week 16.
Cameron Latu was upgraded to a limited participant after initially being estimated as did not participate for Tuesday’s walkthrough. Latu’s participation is notable since he had a bigger role last week.
Saquon Barkley returned to practice as a full participant and will be good to go for Saturday’s game in Washington.
Thursday, December 18th
As expected, both Lane Johnson and Jalen Carter were officially ruled out for Week 16. With the Eagles able to clinch the NFC East with a win on Saturday, we might not see either player until the playoffs.
Both Cameron Latu and Cameron Williams are officially listed as questionable. Yet it’s worth noting that Latu was a full participant on Thursday and should play on Saturday. Williams will eventually have his 21-day practice window expire and revert to season-ending injured reserve.
Every other player that appeared on the Eagles injury report this week is officially good to go, including both Landon Dickerson and Fred Johnson.
Commanders Injury Report
Tuesday, December 16th
Laremy Tunsil is the most notable name to watch for on Washington’s injury report. Tunsil is one of the best left tackles in the NFL and left Washington’s game against the New York Giants last week with an oblique injury. With nothing to play for, Washington could opt to rest their star left tackle.
Von Miller, Daron Payne and Bobby Wagner all did not participate during Tuesday’s practice. Yet it wasn’t due to injury, as they each received a rest day.
While Jayden Daniels is still practicing and was listed as limited on the injury report, he isn’t going to play. The team already announced that Marcus Mariota will be the starting quarterback to end the regular season.
Wednesday, December 17th
Bobby Wagner was listed as did not participate due to a knee injury after receiving a rest day on Tuesday. It’s a noteworthy addition as the 35-year-old linebacker leads the Commanders with 137 total tackles this season.
Laremy Tunsil was upgraded to a limited participant after not participating during Tuesday’s practice. If Tunsil can’t play, that would be a significant loss for Washington’s offensive line.
Unlike Wagner, Von Miller and Daron Payne were removed from the injury report after receiving rest days on Tuesday.
Thursday, December 18th
The Commanders officially ruled out four players, including Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil. That’s a significant loss for Washington’s offense, especially given how well Philadelphia’s pass rush has played in recent weeks.
Jer’Zhan Newton was a surprise addition to the injury report and is questionable due to an illness. Although with illnesses, players are usually good to go by the time that the game comes around.
After not participating on back-to-back days, Bobby Wagner returned to practice as a full participant on Thursday and will play against the Eagles in Week 16.
