Eagles-Browns Preview: 5 Underrated Players To Watch For

After gathering for two joint practices, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Cleveland Browns for their second preseason game. While the Eagles had a rather underwhelming performance against the Browns at the NovaCare Complex, they’ll look to turn things around at Lincoln Financial Field.

There are several position battles that remain unresolved in the City of Brotherly Love. Yet there are other intriguing players battling for final roster spots as well. Here are five underrated Eagles players to watch for against the Browns in week two of the preseason.

Montrell Johnson Jr.

Before fellow UDFA RB ShunDerrick Powell was turning heads during Philadelphia’s preseason opener, Montrell Johnson Jr. was doing the same at Eagles practice. Yet Johnson suffered a hamstring injury that forced him to miss Philadelphia’s first preseason game and several practices. Now Johnson is ready to go and will make his preseason debut against the Browns.

Kylen Granson

While Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra are cemented as Philadelphia’s top TE duo, Kylen Granson is starting to emerge behind them. Granson has worked his way into a big role on special teams, as he was reportedly working with Philadelphia’s first-team on several units. Now Granson will have an opportunity to build on his strong start in week two of the preseason.

Ogbo Okoronkwo

Despite signing with the Eagles late, Ogbo Okoronkwo has quickly worked his way up Philadelphia’s depth chart. While Joshua Uche and Azeez Ojulari have been inconsistent, Okoronkwo has worked with the starters at times and reportedly played well against his former team during the joint practices. Okoronkwo could continue his push for a final roster spot with a strong performance against the Browns.

Mac McWilliams

When the Eagles selected Mac McWilliams in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, many expected him to play slot cornerback due to his lack of size. McWilliams played inside for the first few weeks of training camp, yet he has reportedly moved to the outside in recent days. McWilliams is suddenly in the mix for the starting job at CB2 and could make things interesting with a strong showing against Cleveland.

Brandon Johnson

After McWilliams moves to outside cornerback, undrafted free agent Brandon Johnson has replaced him as the second-team slot cornerback. Johnson played over 1,500 snaps at slot cornerback in college and brings much-needed experience and depth at the position. If McWilliams sticks on the outside, Johnson could make a legitimate case to make Philadelphia’s final roster.
