Bryce Young Recalls Playing on the Road Against the Eagles: ‘The Philly Loyalty Is Real’
The Philadelphia Eagles were surprisingly put to the test by the Carolina Panthers in Week 14 last season. After a rough rookie season, Panthers second-year QB Bryce Young showcased his potential by carving up Philadelphia’s elite defense. Yet the Panthers let victory slip through their hands, literally.
Panthers rookie WR Xavier Legette dropped a potential game-winning touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter. The Eagles survived at home and escaped with a 22-16 over Young and the Panthers.
Young’s trip to Philadelphia represented a return home, as he was born in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. While he put on a show against the Eagles, he was disappointed that the Panthers didn’t get the win. Yet that didn’t stop his own friends and family in attendance from reminding him about the loss.

Young joined Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, C.J. Stroud and Caleb Williams at Fanatics Fest for a panel called “Franchise Faces.” Host Kay Adams asked the QBs if they had any memorable experiences with opposing fans in the NFL and Young recalled his trip on the road to Philadelphia.
“I have family from Philly so we played there and lost, it was kind of a close game,” Young said as he started his story.
“Right after the game we go to the friends and family section. It’s about 50 minutes after the game and I’m still not super happy.”
Despite a valiant effort against one of the best defenses in the NFL, Young’s team ultimately fell short. While it was an admirable performance from an underdog on the road in Philadelphia, Young’s friends and family let him know their true feelings after the game.
“But we had a lot of friends and family there and a lot of them are Eagles fans,” Young continued.
Young recalled that his own friends and family said “we got y’all, we killed y’all!” despite the fact that he just suffered a brutal loss.
“Even though they’re connected to me, their loyalty was with the Eagles over where I was at,” Young said. “Damn, this Philly loyalty is real.”
While Eagles fans are well aware of how wild Lincoln Financial Field can get, it was funny to learn about Young’s experience. Philadelphia’s fandom runs deep, apparently even deeper than Young’s own family and friends.
