20 Potential Waiver Wire Targets for the Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles trimmed down their roster from 90 players to 50 players on Tuesday afternoon. Yet as Eagles GM Howie Roseman stated in his recent press conference, “we’re not done.”
What could be next for the Eagles? While Roseman is always working the phones for potential trades, Philadelphia’s immediate focus will likely shift towards the waiver wire.
Despite ranking last in the NFL at 32nd in the waiver wire claim order, Roseman and his staff will do their homework. For example, the Eagles claimed IDL Byron Young off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders following final cuts in 2024.
Philadelphia is likely set at several positions, yet Roseman is always looking to improve the roster in any way possible. There are a few position groups that stand out as potential areas of weakness that the Eagles could address with waiver claims.
Roseman loves to give players on their rookie deals a second chance in Philadelphia. He’ll have the chance to do so with several players on the waiver wire. Here are 20 potential waiver wire targets to keep an eye on for the Eagles.
Britain Covey, WR
Let’s start with a familiar face for the Eagles. Britain Covey was one of the NFL’s best returners during his time in Philadelphia. Yet Covey struggled to stay healthy and signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He has since been waived and could be a practice squad target.
Audric Estime, RB
The Eagles held on to A.J. Dillon as RB3 during initial roster cuts. Yet could the Eagles have their eyes on a younger replacement with a cost-controlled contract? Audric Estime would fit that bill at just 21-years old with three years remaining on his rookie contract.
Julius Brents, CB
Prior to the 2023 NFL Draft, the Eagles hosted Julius Brents on a top-30 visit. Fast forward to 2025 and Brents has now been waived by the Colts after missing all of last season with a knee injury. At 6’3, 198 lbs. with 34” arms, Brents offers size and upside at CB that Philadelphia was interested in just two years ago.
Gabriel Murphy, EDGE
It appeared as though the Vikings were going to keep Gabriel Murphy after he sat out their preseason finale. Murphy was working with Minnesota’s second-team defense and showed dominant flashes during the preseason. Yet the Vikings have since waived him and he would bring energy and upside to Philadelphia.
Josh Whyle, TE
Heading into the offseason, there were concerns about the future of the TE position in Philadelphia. The Eagles didn’t have any TEs under contract past this season and that still remains true. Yet former fifth-round pick Josh Whyle was waived by the Titans and has two years remaining on his rookie contract. Whyle also has great size at 6’7”, 248 lbs. with upside.
Trey Palmer, WR
Eagles fans might remember Trey Palmer for his 56-yard TD reception against Philadelphia in the 2024 playoffs. Palmer is a former sixth-round pick that showed flashes during his rookie season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also has experience returning both punts and kickoffs, which the Eagles could be seeking.
Beanie Bishop Jr., CB
After going undrafted last year, Beanie Bishop Jr. quickly earned a role with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bishop started several games in 2024, primarily serving as Pittsburgh’s slot CB. Despite recording four interceptions as a rookie, Bishop was waived by the Steelers. If the Eagles want to start Cooper DeJean on the outside, Bishop would provide proven insurance at slot CB.
Kahlef Hailassie, S
Similar to Brents, Kahlef Hailassie is a player that the Eagles hosted on a top-30 visit ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft. Yet Hailassie went undrafted and has bounced around the NFL a bit. He recorded two interceptions during the preseason this year and showcased his versatility by playing both CB and S. Hailassie could bring versatility as a depth piece in Philadelphia’s secondary.
Damarri Mathis, CB
Eagles DB coach Christian Parker has quickly asserted himself as one of the most important members of Nick Sirianni’s staff. Parker should have pull in Philadelphia and Damarri Mathis is a CB that he worked with for two years in Denver. Mathis has starting experience and would add more competition at CB for the Eagles.
Damien Martinez, RB
Similar to the Estime suggestion earlier, Damien Martinez is a bigger RB that offers juice. He was selected in the seventh round by the Seattle Seahawks and eventually waived. Which means that he has four years remaining on his rookie contract and would serve as an inexpensive RB3 with upside in Philadelphia.
Derion Kendrick, CB
It’s no secret that Roseman loves former Georgia Bulldogs. Derion Kendrick spent one season at Georgia and was eventually drafted by the Rams in the sixth-round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Kendrick started 18 games over his first two seasons before missing last season due to a knee injury. If healthy, Kendrick would be an intriguing addition to Philadelphia’s CB room.
Jelani Woods, TE
If you could create a TE in a lab, they would look like Jelani Woods. He is 6’7”, 253 lbs. with 34 1/2” arms and ran a 4.61 in the 40-yards dash. Woods’ upside led to him being selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, yet he has struggled to stay healthy. The 26-year-old TE feels like a player that Roseman would take a chance on.
Ahmed Hassanein, EDGE
The Eagles showed plenty of interest in Ahmed Hassanein ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was selected in the sixth round by the Detroit Lions, where he turned heads during training camp. Yet Hassanein was waived with an injury settlement, which makes things interesting. The Eagles could claim him despite the injury because of his long-term upside.
Rakim Jarrett, WR
After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Rakim Jarrett was deciding between signing with two teams, the Buccaneers and the Eagles. Now that Tampa Bay has waived Jarrett, he could finally land in Philadelphia. The 24-year-old WR could offer extra value as a kick returner.
Samuel Womack, CB
The Eagles were one of several teams that submitted a claim for Samuel Womack in 2024. Now Womack is on waivers once again and the Eagles should be interested. He played well for the Colts last season, as he recorded two interceptions. It also doesn’t hurt that he played for two seasons at Toledo with Quinyon Mitchell.
Greg Dulcich, TE
Despite a strong preseason performance, the New York Giants waived Greg Dulcich. The former third-round pick has struggled to stay active in the NFL, yet he still offers intriguing upside as a pass catcher. While he is heading into a contract year, Dulcich could be worth taking a closer look at in 2025.
Jerrick Reed II, S
Eagles DL coach Clint Hurtt was the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks during Jerrick Reed II’s rookie season. While Reed has battled injuries, he provides a ton of value on special teams. If the Eagles want to improve Michael Clay’s unit, they could try to claim Reed.
Tyler Scott, WR
The former fourth-round pick never reached his potential with the Chicago Bears. While Tyler Scott never amounted to much as a WR in Chicago, he did show promise as a kick returner. I could see Roseman convincing himself that the Eagles can get the best out of Scott’s skillset.
Jalyn Armour-Davis, CB
While Roseman loves former Georgia players, he also loves former Alabama players. Jalyn Armour-Davis spent four seasons at Alabama and helped the team win a national championship in 2020. Armour-Davis was a bit of a surprise cut by the Baltimore Ravens and he would be a welcome addition to Philadelphia’s secondary.
Jah Joyner, EDGE
The Eagles showed interest in Jah Joyner ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Joyner went undrafted and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. He has intriguing size at 6’4”, 262 lbs. with 34” arms. Joyner could be worth claiming or signing to practice squad as a developmental EDGE.
